Three tracking modes
Open Mileage and go to the Settings tab. Under Tracking mode:
- Manual: Start and stop each trip yourself. The Log tab shows Start trip and Stop trip.
- Smart detection (the default): Auto-detect trips, one daily review. RevvFi notices when you are driving, records the trip, and asks once a day whether each trip was for business.
- Work schedule: Pauses tracking outside these hours. Set your work days, start time and end time; trips inside the schedule are logged as business automatically, and tracking is paused outside it.
Turning automatic tracking on
Picking Smart detection or Work schedule is not enough on its own. On the Log tab, tap the card Turn on automatic tracking and confirm Turn on. The phone then asks for location permission:
- Choose Always (on Android, Allow all the time). Automatic detection cannot work with "While using the app".
- The status pill on the Log tab tells you where you stand: Tracking active, Tracking paused, Always-on location needed (with an Open Settings button), Paused, outside your work hours, or Tracking off.
- Android shows a persistent notification, RevvFi mileage tracking, while it is on.
Only driving-style motion wakes the GPS, a stop is detected after about a minute stationary, and short stops are stitched into one trip. Tracking survives closing the app and restarting the phone.
Reviewing detected trips
A banner reads N trips need review. Were any of these for business? Tap it and mark each trip Business or Personal; Change lets you fix the purpose or business. RevvFi sends a daily Trips to review push (weekly Your week in miles in Work schedule mode). Trips RevvFi filtered out as not real drives are listed under Recently filtered drives with This was a real drive to restore one. Swipe a trip left to delete it.
Logging a trip by hand
Tap + Log trip manually. Enter Miles driven, a Trip purpose (pick from the list or type your own), the Date, whether it was a Business trip, and which Business. Manual trips can also be added on the web app's Mileage page.
Where the deduction shows
The Mileage hero shows Business miles YTD and Deduction. The same figure appears on the Deductions screen as Vehicle, standard mileage, in Reports under Mileage summary, and in every export. Mileage is tracked for your account as a whole, not per business, so it shows as (all businesses) when you filter by business. How the dollar amount is computed is in IRS mileage rates and the standard vs actual method.
