Create a rule
- On the Transactions screen tap Rules (or Settings → Preferences → Auto-categorization rules; on the web, the Rules page).
- Enter the merchant to match, for example Adobe.
- Choose Business, Personal or No change, which business if you have several, and the category.
- Tap Save rule.
Faster: when you edit any transaction, tick Always apply this to "{vendor}" and RevvFi creates the rule for you. RevvFi also notices patterns in your own edits and lists them as suggested rules with Make rule and Approve all.
What a rule applies to
- Future transactions from that merchant, ahead of every other categorization step.
- Existing transactions in the current and previous tax year. Saving a rule applies it immediately and tells you how many past transactions changed.
- Not transactions you already edited by hand. Those conflicts are listed under Classification diffs so you can decide.
- Not transfers, income or refunds. Rules only touch expenses.
Delete a rule
Deleting a rule stops it for future transactions, which go back to automatic categorization. Past transactions keep whatever the rule set. Revvy can also propose deleting a rule, which you approve in the Review Queue.
