Creating the account

You can sign up on the phone app (iPhone or Android) or at app.getrevvapp.com. It is one account either way, and whatever you do on one shows up on the other.

Verify your email

RevvFi sends a verification link right after sign-up and will not let you into the app until you tap it. The screen says Check your email, with I tapped the link, check now and Wrong email? Change it. On the web the button is I've verified, continue. If the email never arrives, check spam, then use the change-email option to fix a typo.

The onboarding questions

After verification, RevvFi walks you through a short setup. Nothing here is permanent; everything can be changed later from your profile menu.

  1. Your work. Pick one or more of 49 industries (rideshare, delivery, HVAC, food and catering, and so on). Industry tunes the automatic categorizer, gives Revvy context about your work, and pre-selects the deduction categories most common in that line of work. It never limits what RevvFi can detect in your transactions.
  2. Business profile. Name your business. You can add more than one here with + Add another business, and you need at least one.
  3. Your vehicle. Year, make, model and running costs, or I don't use a vehicle for business. This feeds the standard-versus-actual comparison on the Mileage screen.
  4. Home deduction. If you work from home, the square footage and housing costs used to estimate your home office deduction.
  5. Connect a bank through Plaid, or Skip for now and do it later from your profile menu.
Two-factor authentication comes up earlyRevvFi offers 2-step verification with a code app. It is optional for connecting a bank, but exporting records and sharing with your accountant require it, so it is worth turning on early. See Security, two-factor and Face ID.

Your trial

Every new account starts a 14-day free trial with full access. A payment method is collected up front (the App Store on iPhone, Stripe on Android and the web) and nothing is charged until the trial ends. Details are in Plans, pricing and RevvFi Pro.
